“The body is your temple. Keep it pure and clean for the soul to reside in.” (B. K. S. Iyengar)
If you exercise you’ll know that when you feel the most tired and want to quit you often times get the strength to keep going from your mind, not your body. That shows you just how powerful the mind is and why it’s important we continue to nourish our mind, body and soul each and every day.
Why is it that we often look to external messaging and images to see how we should look? The love for your own body and the motivation to keep healthy and strong should come from inside you, not the media. Once you start looking inside yourself you will be able to gain inner peace and greater confidence.
All too often we find ourselves unhappy and disappointed about the way we look and feel, when really it’s in our control. You don’t need external sources telling you when you need to change something about your life or health, look inside and be honest with yourself. It’s a pretty simple formula when you break it down, exercise daily, get rest, be aware what you’re putting in your body and be so in tune with your mind, body and soul that you become quickly aware when something feels off.
Stress is also a huge factor in maintaining health and weight. Meditation, yoga, walking and making time for yourself and activities you enjoy are just a few ways to keep anxiety and worry in check. You can’t please everybody so do it for yourself.
Say it out loud, “I will treat my body with respect and kindness. I will feed it, keep it active and listen to its needs. I will remember that my body is the vehicle that will carry me to my dreams.”
