A phrase that doesn’t get enough attention. Sure, we tease about it sometimes or we encourage someone to just try a little harder, but do we actually live this practice out in our daily lives? Often times I think we cave to failure and assume because one door shuts, that that’s it, nothing else can be done.
It’s just not true though, giving up is a mindset that feeds the negative and the “can’t.” When we make mistakes or mess up our mind tells us it’s over, you screwed up and that was your last chance. But that’s typically not the case. In many circumstances it’s not the end, it’s just the beginning. However, you must have the right mindset in order to pick yourself back up and try again.
Ever worry that it might be ruined
And does it make you wanna cry?
When you’re out there doing what you’re doing
Are you just getting by?
Where there is desire
There is gonna be a flame
Where there is a flame
Someone’s bound to get burned
But just because it burns
Doesn’t mean you’re gonna die
You’ve gotta get up and try, and try, and try
Gotta get up and try, and try, and try
You gotta get up and try, and try, and try
We hear stories of famous people who conquer their fears, their doubts and their haters, and become great successes. We share and tell these stories with each other all the time, but what about our own story? Maybe it’s time we put this concept into practice in our own lives and prove it can be done. “Nobody likes quitters,” no, seriously, they don’t. Quitters give up and fail to see the responsibility inside themselves to keep going. At the end of the day, support or no support, the decision is yours.
As the singer, Aaliyah said in her hit song, “Dust yourself off and try again.” Who are you trying to impress anyway? You come first. Be your own hero.
Give it a shot, try try again.
