Don’t Fall For It

Don’t listen to people who tell you you’re not good enough, don’t let society put unrealistic demands on you and stop letting other people make you think you’re not worth it. We get so caught up trying to be the best and impress others that we forget to be happy in the moment and practice gratitude for another day. Don’t let other people kill your dreams, tell you that you’ll never make it or make you feel small. When you let this stuff get to you you allow other people to steal your joy, and essentially you end up in a constant state of self-doubt.

Life isn’t about how much stuff you have, about how many people like you or how much power and wealth you have. It’s about human connections, making a footprint that’s going to help your kids and future generations and making a difference. Life’s about helping others and being present so you can acknowledge and appreciate all of the beautiful miracles that happen around you each day.

Consumption, competition, money and greed exist to mess with you and make you think you’ll be happy once you’re at the top. But if you chase after these types of things you may get to the top and realize you’re all alone, and that it’s not as great as you pictured. If money weren’t a factor what would you do, where would you go, who would you visit and what adventures would you take on? Yes, it’s a reality that we all have to work within budgets, but don’t let that stop your mind from dreaming. When you believe in yourself, follow your passions and treat those you meet along the way with respect, you prosper and experience more joy than money will ever buy you.

People who bully, cheat and betray others to get ahead might think they’re successful, but honestly they walk blindly. People who put others down are poor in spirit, love, joy and happiness. People who need to hurt others to get what they want aren’t worth your time and you need to be strong enough to separate yourself from the toxicity. Don’t fall for the naysayers and the critics. Build up your internal courage so you’re smart enough to recognize what you do and don’t deserve, and what you will and won’t put up with. It’s your decision. Learning this lesson might just save you from a lot of heartache. No one can steal your joy unless you let them. Some days you just have to tune out the noise and create your own sunshine.
